ever since I can remember, I loved drawing, shapes & colour.
My Tinker Toy set was my favourite.
In Grade One, I got called up go see the
H.O.D. Thinking that I was in trouble, I recall that I cried whilst I walked to her office. Unaware at the time, my class teacher sent her my illustration from an art exercise. She just wanted to meet me, saying that I had a natural talent for drawing & a budding artistic ability.
That was the moment!
I chose to study design & qualified as a professional interior designer. That was 18 years ago. Following employment in various sectors of interior architecture (residential, hospitality, corporate, retail & exhibition design); I favoured commercial design the most. Specifically, I was intrigued by branding, the consumer perspective & the science behind retail. I continued to work & signed up for marketing studies, earning my qualification in 2017.
7 years ago, I created Prana SQM. Our design ethos: to breathe life into spaces (please see the ‘Approach page’ for more about Prana SQM).
Breathing Life includes stimulation, upliftment & inducing positivity. As a result, I've painted murals for hospitals, community & day care centres. I am excited to share that my art is part of our offering (please see the ‘Art page’).
Reverting to the start of this narrative, I am still extremely passionate about colour, shapes & forms. I am influenced by the geometric shapes & colour blocking of the Vorticism Movement (an art movement created by radical British avant-garde artists), I am awestruck by Brutalist Architecture (an architectural style characterised by stark geometric forms & unrefined materials). I am captivated by any work by Santiago Calatrava (architect & civil engineer).
I believe in green consciousness therefore I design 'green' & commit to the
Waste Hierarchy:
Reduce waste,
Reuse waste &
Recycle waste
into goods for tomorrow.
